Supplier Profile – Electronic Marine Solutions

Electronic Marine Solutions was founded in 2005 with the unique teaming of two passionate, committed industry veterans, Wayne Beak and Tony Carroll. At conception they had combined greater than 40 years experience within the Marine Industry and both held key positions in high profile companies. They had a radical new vision for providing unheard of commitment and service within the specialised Marine Navigation, Communications and Audio Visual electronics arena. Previously as key contributors in developing, selling and marketing for their respective companies, it became more evident that greater individual focus on each client meant there was need for change and the opening of new opportunities- opportunities to provide previously unavailable services and solutions to:

  • Shipyards, OEM Boat Builders
  • Government sectors- Defence, Coastal Patrol, Fisheries, DPI, Police
  • Passenger Ferries, Vehicular Ferries
  • Super Yachts
  • Charter/Sports/Game Fishing vessels

HOW DID THE ORIGINAL RELATIONSHIP WITH NRW DEVELOP?

Back in 1987 I first entered the NRW yard employed as an apprentice with an Electronics service supplier company, and for the next 10 years continued doing so until joining an alternative marine electronics distributor and strengthened the relationship for a further 7 years. Then in 2005 combining with Tony Carroll and his past Marine electronics relationship with NRW,  the EMS relationship commenced and 34 years on is still going strong, as collectively we are able to offer NRW a wider range of products and services including a greater depth of brands than previously, with a more dedicated customer focus.

WHAT ARE THE KEY TYPES OF PROJECTS AND SERVICES YOU PROVIDE TO NRW?

EMS provides a broad range of marine electronics specialising in the Government, commercial and recreational boat arena, encompassing marine navigation systems such as GPS, depth sounder, radar and thermal cameras, audio-visual including public address, intercom, telephony and stereo receivers, communication such as VHF and AIS (Automatic Identification System), CCTV (closed circuit television) satellite communications and autopilots. We not only fit and interconnect the supplied equipment but also offer unparalleled follow-on support through NRW corporate partners.

WHY ARE YOU A KEY SUPPLIER OF NRW?

We are able to provide an unbiased range of solutions that meet the key requirements including function, cost, reliability and performance. We strive to be the best in the business through consistency and technology. We prefer to affiliate ourselves with like-minded businesses and are proud to be not only an Australian service provider but specifically a Brisbane, Queensland based business who can rub shoulders with the best.

WHAT DO YOU AND YOUR TEAM LIKE ABOUT WORKING WITH NRW?

The NRW team of craftsmen are dedicated and diligent. They pay attention to detail and strive for complete customer satisfaction. These are key attributes which separate the good from the best and are key values we also strive for in our own business.

WHAT WOULD BE ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHT NRW PROJECTS YOU COLLABORATED ON AND WHY?

In  recent years, NRW projects with the Queensland State Government are some of those we take the greatest pride in. The Qld Water Police vessel “Stewart Kerlin II” and more recently Queensland Parks & Wildlife vessels “Reef Resilience” and “Tamoya II” are our “bread and butter” projects which remain key markets for us. “Reef Resilience” is a state of the art vessel which is durable, features the latest technology and outstanding performance. She is the pride of the Queensland Government Great Barrier Reef patrol fleet and testament to all of those who helped construct her.
